Proper License Counting in Libraesva with Exchange
It is essential that Libraesva correctly counts the number of used licenses. To achieve this, the Exchange environment must be configured properly.
Utixo provides a dedicated script designed to simplify the configuration process in Exchange 2016 environments.
Technical background
Starting with Exchange 2013, Microsoft changed the behavior of the Front-End Transport service so that it no longer rejects invalid recipients once specified. This breaks Libraesva’s Dynamic Verification check.
The solution is to use the default HubTransport connector, which is still SMTP-compliant and rejects invalid recipients during the RCPT TO
command.
Solution
- Enable anti-spam agents on the Exchange side to validate recipients.
- Automatically reject messages sent to non-existent users within the organization.
- Request the configuration script by opening a Utixo support ticket.
Final steps
After running the script, you must enable Dynamic Verification for the relevant domain on the mail server’s port 25.
Note
This configuration is crucial to ensure Libraesva correctly counts licenses and blocks invalid traffic.
