Microsoft 365 imposes limits on email sending to ensure security and prevent misuse of its services. These limits vary based on the subscription plan. Below is an overview of the main limits:
1. Daily Sending Limit
The maximum number of recipients a single account can reach within a 24-hour period:
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Premium and Enterprise (E1, E3, E5):
10,000 recipients per day. - Microsoft 365 Business Basic:
10,000 recipients per day. - Exchange Online Kiosk:
300 recipients per day.
2. Single Message Limit
- It is possible to send an email to a maximum of 500 recipients per message, including To, Cc, and Bcc.
3. Sending Speed
- Microsoft limits the number of simultaneous SMTP connections to avoid overload.
- When using an authenticated SMTP relay, the limit is generally 30 messages per minute and a maximum of 10,000 recipients per day.
Temporary Block
If an account exceeds the limit, email sending will be temporarily blocked for 24 hours.
