Publishing Local Sites with Microsoft FrontPage

Microsoft FrontPage supports two types of websites:

  • Disk-based (local) sites: created on your local computer and published later to a web server
  • Server-based sites: created directly on the server, with no need for separate publishing

This guide specifically covers the process for publishing local sites.

Available publishing methods

You can publish a local site using one of the following methods:

  • FTP: if the server supports FTP protocol
  • HTTP: if the server runs FrontPage Server Extensions

Examples of publishing URLs

After publishing, site management can be performed through the FrontPage Server Extensions.

Accessing the FrontPage Server Extensions management interface

  • Log in to your Plesk panel.
  • Click the domain name you want to manage.
  • Select FrontPage Management from the Hosting section.

Depending on your domain’s configuration, you may see one of the following options:

  • FrontPage WebAdmin: for managing a non-SSL site
  • FrontPage-SSL WebAdmin: for managing an SSL-protected site

Enter your FrontPage administrator credentials and click OK.

For more information on using FrontPage Server Extensions, consult the in-panel help (FP Webadmin > Help) or visit the official Microsoft website.
