Recalculating Email Account Size in cPanel

Sometimes cPanel may display incorrect mailbox sizes. In such cases, the first thing to check is through Webmail, making sure to review the contents of all folders in the mailbox, including Trash.

When to Open a Support Ticket

If the discrepancy is confirmed to be real, it is necessary to recalculate the mailbox size. This action can only be performed by the system administrator, so you should open a support ticket and report the issue.

Command for WHM Administrators

If you manage the server via WHM, you can run the following command from the SHELL:

/scripts/generate_maildirsize -confirm cPanelusername

Replace cPanelusername with the correct cPanel account username for which you want to recalculate mailbox size.

Running this command will update the values shown in cPanel and realign the reported email disk usage with actual usage.
