How to Free Up Disk Space in cPanel

The cPanel Hosting panel provides a simple and intuitive interface to manage your website and monitor resource usage. If you're using a Utixo Reseller Hosting plan, you can also manage your customers’ cPanel accounts via WHM.

Check current disk usage

Log in to your cPanel and click on Disk Usage in the Statistics section to see which directories are taking up the most space.

Analyze folder sizes

On the next page, scroll down to view a breakdown of each folder and file by size. This allows you to quickly identify which content is consuming the most disk space.

Beware of the Other Usage section

The Other Usage category may contain:

  • Temporary files
  • System-related files
  • Emails not listed under the /mail folder
  • Recently deleted files still counted until the next update

This section cannot be manually cleared, but part of the space may free up after the system updates its usage stats.

When disk space is full

If you see an error screen like the one below, your storage is completely full:

You have two main options:

  • Delete unnecessary files such as old backups, logs, or unused content
  • Upgrade your hosting plan to get more disk space

How to delete files to free up space

Use either of the following tools to remove unused files:

  • FTP access via a client like FileZilla
  • File Manager inside cPanel

You can browse your directories, identify large or obsolete files, and delete them directly.

Alternatives: upgrade or extra space

If you still need more storage after optimization, consider:

  • Upgrading to a higher hosting plan
  • Adding extra disk space (+Space add-on)

Contact Utixo support for available upgrade options.
