Enabling Default Antispam Protection in cPanel
The default antispam protection in cPanel is based on Apache SpamAssassin, a widely used open-source product. For advanced and higher quality protection, we recommend using our Libraesva SaaS solution.
Step-by-step guide
- Log in to your account via our Client Area.
- Select your Linux Web Hosting service.
- From the left-hand menu, click on cPanel.
- Click on Control Panel Access and then Click here to access the control panel.
Once inside cPanel, go to the Email section and select Apache SpamAssassin. You will see a menu like this:
To enable antispam protection, click the button Process New Emails and Mark them as Spam.
How SpamAssassin works
Apache SpamAssassin evaluates each incoming email and assigns a score:
- 1 = unlikely spam
- 10 = very likely spam
You can enable the Auto-delete option to automatically remove emails that exceed a defined score threshold (e.g. 6). For example:
- Email with score ≥ 6 → automatically deleted
- Email with score < 6 → delivered to inbox
