PowerShell Command to Associate a Mailbox Database with a Client Access Server (CAS)

In a Microsoft Exchange Server environment, you can associate a Mailbox Database with a specific Client Access Server (CAS) using the following PowerShell command via the Exchange Management Shell.

This configuration sets the designated server as the MAPI access point for clients connecting to the specified database.

PowerShell Command

Set-MailboxDatabase -Identity "DATABASE_NAME" -RpcClientAccessServer "SERVER_NAME"

Example

Set-MailboxDatabase -Identity "MailboxDB01" -RpcClientAccessServer "SRV-EXCHANGE01"

In this example, SRV-EXCHANGE01 is set as the MAPI access point for clients connecting to the MailboxDB01 database.

Note

This configuration is mainly applicable to Exchange Server 2010 environments. In later versions (2013 and above), the architecture uses CAS Array and centralized access, making this setting less relevant or deprecated.
