Office 365 Rebrands to Microsoft 365

Office 365, long recognized as a leading productivity and subscription-based software brand, has officially been rebranded as Microsoft 365. This change reflects Microsoft’s broader strategy to unify its offerings under a single, modern brand.

A planned transition

In late March 2020, Microsoft announced a rebranding of its Office 365 Business plans, which were gradually renamed as Microsoft 365. Shortly afterward, the same transition applied to consumer plans as well.

The popular Office 365 ProPlus plan was also renamed to Microsoft 365 Apps.

All of these changes officially took effect on April 21, 2020.

The impact of the rebrand

Through this rebranding, Microsoft effectively retired nearly two-thirds of the original Office 365 plans, replacing them with equivalent Microsoft 365 offerings. It marked the largest transformation of the brand since Office 365’s initial launch nearly nine years earlier.
