Importing a .PST File into Outlook 2007

If you're using Outlook 2007, you can easily import emails, contacts, calendar items, and other data from a Personal Folders file (.pst) using the built-in import wizard.

Import Steps

  1. Open Outlook 2007 and click on File at the top of the screen.
  2. Select Import and Export to launch the wizard.
  3. Choose Import from another program or file and click Next.
  4. Select Personal Folder File (.pst) and click Next.
  5. Click Browse to locate the .pst file you wish to import.

Note

To avoid duplicates, we recommend selecting Do not import duplicates in the options screen.

  1. Click Next.
  2. If the .pst file is password-protected, enter the password when prompted and click OK.
  3. Set import preferences:
    • The top folder is selected by default (usually Personal Folders or the email account name).
    • Include subfolders is checked by default.
  4. Choose the destination for the imported data:
    • Import items into the current folder: data will be placed in the currently selected folder.
