Importing a .PST File into Outlook 2007
If you're using Outlook 2007, you can easily import emails, contacts, calendar items, and other data from a Personal Folders file (.pst) using the built-in import wizard.
Import Steps
- Open Outlook 2007 and click on File at the top of the screen.
- Select Import and Export to launch the wizard.
- Choose Import from another program or file and click Next.
- Select Personal Folder File (.pst) and click Next.
- Click Browse to locate the
.pst
file you wish to import.
Note
To avoid duplicates, we recommend selecting Do not import duplicates in the options screen.
- Click Next.
- If the
.pst
file is password-protected, enter the password when prompted and click OK. - Set import preferences:
- The top folder is selected by default (usually Personal Folders or the email account name).
- Include subfolders is checked by default.
- Choose the destination for the imported data:
- Import items into the current folder: data will be placed in the currently selected folder.
- Import items into the same folder in: data will be imported into folders with matching names (Outlook will create them if necessary).
- Click Finish to complete the import process.
